The Habit of Complaining

The Habit of Complaining

Sadly, people suffer from the habit of complaining too much to get what they want. We should not complain to get what we want because it’s a bad habit to form which will continue for life. This tantrum throwing can lead to a lazy, unproductive life.
Parents today refuse to discipline their children. Although it is the child who is misbehaving and complaining or crying to get what they want, it is the parents who are giving into their demands. Today, even adults complain to get what they want. Adults complain for a raise at work, even if they’re a lazy worker, and it is often given to them. People find that complaining is the only way to get what they desire, but they can work or even ask how else they can earn their wants. There is always a way to achieve the things we desire. We need not look for the easy way out, by simply complaining until we get what we want.
People don’t need to complain to get what they want. This bad habit only feeds the desires of the flesh. Life is not supposed to be easy and we need not complain when things get tough. Hard work and a good attitude will provide us with a great future.

Learning from Mistakes

Learning from Mistakes

People learn more when finding out that they have made a mistake and trying again. People learn less when they succeed at something, because they can easily forget it in the future. Mistakes help people learn more, because if they keep working at it, they will eventually learn from their mistakes.
Students often find it difficult to write essays, but if they keep rewriting, they will soon master the skill. Math is another difficult subject, but several people succeed in this subject by making mistakes and figuring out how to fix it and find the correct answer. In this way, making a mistake makes students successful. When people make mistakes, they have to work at correcting it, forcing them to learn it better in the long run. Succeeding without making a mistake leads to forgetting it in a short period of time.
It is best to make mistakes, because we learn more from them. Mistakes are a large part of learning. Without mistakes, we would often forget things. Life is full of mistakes, but we learn from them.

The Pursuit of Happiness

The Pursuit of Happiness

The pursuit of happiness is something we reach for each day. The anticipation of a certain event is often the best part. There are also times when the pursuit is the hardest part of the attainment of happiness. Whether it is the attainment of our desires or the chasing of our dreams, the pursuit of happiness is often the major part of our lives.
A holiday every child anticipates is Christmas. Although the day itself is exciting, the wait is even more exciting. The preparations for Christmas are filled with joyful events such as: getting a Christmas tree, building gingerbread houses, and singing Christmas carols with family and friends. It is best to cherish the wait; because once the day arrives it will be over at the blink of an eye. The pursuit of happiness can be a long process, and in some cases it’s best to attain our desires as quickly as possible.
The pursuit of a college degree often takes many years; and the years can be full of hard work. Every student looks forward to graduating as soon as they can, but the pursuit of that degree is a long process. All the tests and studying make college a stressful time, and the anticipation of finishing grows stronger every year. Students still enjoy learning new things and making new friends, but the thrill of the final graduation and the attainment of the degree outweighs the hard work.
Although it can be best to attain our pleasure and satisfaction as soon as possible, it is best to enjoy the moments leading to that final attainment. If people anticipate the attainment of a desire, it will have more meaning. People today get what they want, but they should not forget to enjoy the journey.

A Classic American Dessert

A Classic American Dessert

Apple pie is considered the most American desert, and I believe this is true. This gooey sweet treat is served during many holiday celebrations in family homes across America. This delicious pie made warm day view many decades ago, and has a long and tasty history as American’s favorite dessert.
During the 14th century, apple tarts and apple pies were enjoyed as a common dessert in England. The Dutch, in the early 1500s, made the pie more decorative and elegant by adding a lattice top. Finally in the mid-1600s, apples made their way to North America through ship trade. Sadly, the apples that were brought over had a sour and unappetizing taste. In 1697, Swedish, Dutch, and British immigrants brought their tasty pie to America. Throughout the 1700s, Dutch women in Pennsylvania began to bake apple pies at a furious speed to sell their pies to hungry Americans. During World War Two, in the 1940s, journalists asked soldiers why they were fighting in the war, and most of the responses were “for mom and apple pie.” This lead to Americans adopting the saying “as American as apple pie.” Finally, in the 1960s, apple pie became a delicious symbol of patriotism.
Apple pie has woven its way into the hearts of Americans, and is baked by millions during the holidays. This delicious treat is baked on Thanksgiving, Christmas, The Fourth of July, and many other patriotic holidays. Apple pie is not just as symbol of America and its holidays, but it’s also a symbol of tradition and home. This warm and sweet desert reminds many Americans of their families, and coming together to enjoy this mouthwatering treat. Apple pie has a large impact on family during the holidays, and is a reminder of all the good times and celebrations with our family and friends.
There are several close competitors to apple pie, but this warm cinnamon tradition will always be the most American dessert. Unlike most desserts, apple pie has a rich American history, and dominates all other ordinary desserts during the holidays. Apple pie had a large initial impact on America, and will always be the richest classic American dessert.

A Bad Day

A Bad Day

A terrible day that I experienced was the time that I fainted. This in fact was the worst day I have had, all the stress, confusion, and illness, it was unbearable. The rushed ambulance ride to the hospital, and all the worries going through my head, what a terrible time. I still remember the confusion on my parents and everyone else’s face, and how strange and terrifying this situation was.
It all started on a gloomy Saturday morning, we were waiting in line for autographs from some college football players. I did not have much to eat for breakfast, so I was feeling ill. A half an hour passed and this feeling was getting worse every minute, so I told my parents I was not feeling well. Afraid I was going to vomit, they took me over to a patch of grass, where I collapsed. I woke up on the floor of some building I did not recognize, where my parents and a lady I did not recognize called for an ambulance. My hearing and sight were fading in and out and I was not responsive.
The ambulance arrived in less than five minutes. I was put on a stretcher, and I still remember the banging of the stretcher wheels on the side walk. They set me in back of the ambulance, where a lady kept me calm. While driving to the hospital, the paramedics put an i.v. in my arm and asked me all kinds of questions. Frightened and nervous, we finally arrived at the hospital. The paramedics took me out of the back of the ambulance and hurried me into the hospital. My family and I were rushed into a room where the doctor checked me and asked us questions. The nurse took a lot of blood to test, and in about an hour, the doctor to returned with the test results. Fortunately they found my blood sugar and potassium levels were low, so they gave me some liquid to drink and I was able to go home and rest.
I handled that moment with uncertainty, and failed to remember that God would protect me. I was confused at what was happening and where I was. I thought in my head t that something devastating had happened to me, but in reality everything was fine. I remember feeling relieved when we were told that nothing was wrong. I thank God every day for keeping me safe and healthy, and helping me through this difficult day
This truly was the worst and most frightening day of my life. I was terrified by what had happened, but fortunately everything was alright. I will never forget the feeling of alarm and the concerned looks on everyone’s faces. I will always remember the day I fainted.

My Summer Vacation

My Summer Vacation

This summer I explored the beautiful state of Wyoming. The journey was breathtaking, all the colorful views and abundant wild life were alluring. My family and I found that experiencing all of the outdoor activities and visiting the landmarks was incredible. The Wyoming experience was like no other.
We started our journey at Yellowstone. Fly Fishing on the Yellowstone River was an unbelievable experience. Colorful trout swam up and down the river; beautiful birds flew from tree to tree, what a majestic site it was. Next, we toured Yellowstone Park. The park spreads over 2.2 million acres in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. With all the green trees and enormous mountain ranges, the views were unbelievable. The wildlife seemed unreal as well. We have never seen so many animals outside of a zoo .
Our next stop was the Old Trail Town. It offered a unique experience of what it was like to live in 1895. We went to visit Jackson Hole next. Known for its skiing, Jackson Hole also had fun summer activities such as mountain biking and aerial sightseeing. My family and I enjoyed the mountain biking in the fresh crisp air.
We spent a large part of our trip fishing. We fished regularly at the Gallatin River. The River was so beautiful, and was full of many different fish. We caught rainbow trout, mountain whitefish, and even brown trout! Most of the fish we caught were big and gave us a good fight as we pulled them to shore. We spent many of our days hiking up and down the rivers and streams.
Hiking was a fascinating journey. We went on a few day long hikes on designated trails. The first was on the Heart Lake Trail. We were excited to hike down this trail, and we were not disappointed. Pine trees everywhere, amazing views of mountains and rivers, countless amounts of sprinting deer, flying cardinals, and jumping squirrels, what a wonderful experience. We then hiked the Teton Crest Trail. This trail consisted of hilly mountains, and was difficult to hike. Hiking was one of my favorite parts of our journey in Wyoming.
This summer was my most cherished summer vacation. It was a constant exciting journey in Wyoming. Wyoming is a vacation we will always remember. Our trip to Wyoming was the best experience of my life.

The Treasure Seekers

The Treasure Seekers

The Treasure Seekers is an excellent book for those who enjoy silly adventure books. The story is about a family whose mother died and the father’s business is going downhill. The six children go in search of ways to restore their family’s wealth. This is the second book I have read by E. Nesbit; my only wish is that the book was longer.
The story seems to be written more for children to read, but some parts can apply both to young and old. E. Nesbit did a fantastic job at telling the story from a child’s perspective. The book was both enjoyable and delightful.
I found myself wanting to continue to read this book. The story teaches readers about family values and how to overcome difficulties in life.

The Move across the Country

The Move across the Country

A challenge that my family and I faced was moving across the country. I remember it being quite a stressful job. I found it hard to move away from family, and to leave the house that I lived in for my entire life.
My brother and I helped pack bags and load boxes into the truck. Once everything was packed, we waved good-bye to our family and started our trip. We had already planned our route and what time we would arrive at our new home.
We traveled overnight, and it was quite hard to sleep in the car. We got lost a few times, and a little car sick, but we eventually made it to our new home. It felt strange in our new house. I was sad that we left our family, but I was kind of curious about our new home. We unpacked our bags and unloaded the truck. We moved everything in, and after a few weeks, we began to love our new home.

Swiss Family Robinson

Swiss Family Robinson

In the book Swiss Family Robinson the ship the Robinson family is on gets struck by a strong storm. The boat is severely damaged with many holes, and they pray to God that they will survive. The next day, they notice that any possible survivors are gone and their family members are the only ones left on the wrecked ship. They thank God for their survival, but the family wonders what to do next.
While on the wrecked ship, the Robinsons noticed an island close to them. They searched the ship for useful objects. They found two dogs, a cow, a donkey, two goats, six sheep, a ram, and a sow. Fritz, the oldest son, found a couple of guns, shot belt, powder flasks, and dozens of bullets. Ernest, the second oldest son, found a cap full of nails, an ax, a hammer, pincers, chisels, and augers. Franz, the youngest, found a box containing many small hooks. After finding these tools, they built a vessel out of tubs, loaded them with supplies, and jumped inside. The dogs swam near them as they traveled to the island. Once on the island, the family unpacked and set up a tent to sleep for the night. The boys went to collect moss and grass for their beds, and the others started a fire and made dinner. Jack found a lobster, and Ernest found oysters to have for their dinner. They used the oyster shells as spoons, and they all ate from the pot of soup.
The father knew that this island would be their new home, so he taught the boys everything he knew about outdoor life. They all knew that they needed a real home to protect them from predators, so they worked on building a treehouse. They used materials from the wreck and from the island to build their new home. The family plowed some land and planted seeds and their farm began to grow. After several years on the island, the family spent their time exploring the island, hunting, finding food or useful material, and taming animals. The Robinson family, with all their hard work, was able to survive for years on the island.
While cutting down a tree, Fritz found a note written by an English girl who was lost on the island. Fritz searched for the girl and brought her home to his family, who quickly adopted her as one of their own. Shortly after finding the girl, the family spotted an English vessel close to their island, the signal the ship with gunfire. When Fritz and his father entered the English ship, they spoke of their wrecked ship and their life on the island. They told the captain about Jenny, the English girl, and how they rescued her. The two then realized the captain was in search of the English girl. The captain heard from the survivors of the crashed ship Jenny was on and set out to find her. The captain offered to take them back to Europe. Jack, Ernest, their father, and mother decided to stay on the island to help grow the population. Franz, Fritz and Jenny decided to return to England. Franz returned because he wanted good schooling, Fritz returned to England with Jenny to get her father’s consent to marry her. The family accepted each other’s decisions and prayed that God would be with them.
